Jennifer Singer's paint palette in her Oak Park studio
A metal container holding paintbrushes and spatulas covered in dried paint, with various paint jars and supplies in the background.

I'm Jennifer Singer, an abstract painter in Chicago, and I've been painting for 30 years.

My work starts with layers: heavy paint, plaster, powdered pigment, sometimes I use crushed Sedona rock, or vintage paper, or pages from 1940s Fortune magazine ads or from old Haggadahs. Then I sand and manipulate the surface and strip it back. The result is textured, a little unpredictable, and gets more interesting the closer you get.

My paintings live with private collectors, and I create custom commissions for homeowners, businesses, and the interior designers who work with them. Take a look around. If something stops you, let's talk.

My studio is just outside Chicago, in Oak Park, Illinois.
